My first mutiny came from an unexpected person, one of my greatest friends in the world, fellow China inmate Chris Bremble. Chris runs BASE FX, one of the largest GCI companies in the world. He has almost 500 employees, he’s not used to being told what to do … well, on my boat Chris, you do what the captain says!

When the captain tells you to put more chain down … YOU FUCKING DO IT! Especially during a scary nighttime anchor in a place you’ve never been before next to a cliff face.

Another noteworthy tale is: Right after picking Chris up on Catania, Sicily we immediately headed up the straits of Messina on a 15 hours non-stop sail to the Aeolian Islands. Chris, who had just landed from China, started to fall asleep on deck around midnight — 5 hours before our destination. I was also feeling tired but needed to wait until we exited the straits into open sea before I could sleep. Around 2am I nosed the bow towards Lipari, put the auto pilot on and set my iPhone to wake me in 15 min. Meanwhile, Chris woke completely disoriented, on a boat in the black of night, with no visible land, running at 7 knots, and the only guy who knows what he’s doing is sound asleep :-). LOL, maybe this is when he started to develop his notions of mutiny…
